Fosi Audio DS1 Dongle DAC Headphone Amplifier

This dac is a little older but its solid, not just in its construction but its performance. First of all its made of a sold block of some sort of metal so it gives it a little heft for such a small size. 4.4 and 2.5mm plugs offer balanced and unbalanced outputs. Both give decent loudness through my 150ohm headphones. I think nowadays it could use a little more power but to retain your hearing its better this way lol. I tried it with the pc and with a lightning usb 3 dongle adapter for my iphone. Both sound good and i hear the clarity and separation that normally you'd need your old vinyl to hear. Easy to operate, 60 volume steps, Holding volume button switches to uac1 mode. Holding both vol up and down switches between high and low gain modes in both uac2 or uac1 modes. Flashing led means its in uac1 mode. Solid led colors in uac2 mode. Anyways if you want better sound, but dont listen more then a few hours at a time then these are great. They do use phone power or tablet power so you will need to keep track if you do listen for hours. If on a pc it charges so no worries. Anyways great little device.

Hello,that is one best headphone dac,I've been using it with my Ikko obsydian H10 oem headphones and a Neutron player mostly listening to flac files,and sound is amazing,dac has separate volume control with lots of output power,tested it just for fun with Macbook pro and IPhone 16 pro Max,everything works flawlessly,if you want to get best music listening experience,this dac is for you.

I bought this little DAC/AMP for roadtripping with my DCA Noire X headphones and iPad Mini running Apple Music. I also use the same set up bedside for late night music listening so I don't disturb my better 7/8ths.

I'm using the 4.4mm balanced input.

I'm using this little DS1 Dongle to drive my Noire X with my iPhone 16 as I type this review. I love listening to latin and world music - have the "Oy" from the Gypsy Kings playing - which can sound really congested and muddy on a crappy audio rig. I'm getting beautiful detail, clarity, dynamics, separation. Even presents the nuanced details in music that can be impossible to hear on more expensive home speaker rigs. Plenty of bass oomph when the music calls for it. I can crank the volume to fairly painful levels without distortion. Not recommended, but you do you.

The one bugger could be....this little amp will suck the power out of your smartphone pretty quickly. That should be obvious. You might get a good 90-120 minutes of playback give or take, depending on your volume setting. I don't listen to my music terribly loudly - prefer to keep my hearing performing well long term (me doing me). ...If you need longer playback, I think it's better paired with an iPad/tablet or a laptop. The iPad Mini is sweet spot. :)

For a good two hour listening session in your favorite chair in your home, coffee shop, wherever you need keep pretty quiet and not disturb other while still want outstanding high fidelity, this is hard to beat.

I love this little dongle - I would highly recommend if they have the power to drive your headphones (double check the specifications).

Feels well built, is small, sleek, and makes my 250ohm DT770's sound great. No noticeable noise. I am happy with my purchase.

The build quality seems strong. I bought it as I liked that it has an independent volume control (which is more subtle than the volume on my iPhone) and this works well.

I initially just wanted the Fosi Audio IM4 Open-back in-ear monitor, as I saw the YouTube reviews were good for its price. Then curiosity got the better of me and I got the DS1 Headphone Amp and boy was I glad I got them. The difference without and with it plugged in is remarkable. It was definitely worth the add-on. They sound is so superior and clear compared to my other earphones. Highly recommended and super quick delivery too after pledge.

I bought the DS1 and the upgrade cable after having the I-5s for a couple weeks.
Now I can go anywhere and take the high end with me!

It works like a charm with my moondrop chu, and I tried it even on the HD600, everything have been perfect without any issues or drop out.

This is my first Fosi product and I couldn't be more impressed. It drives my Hifiman Ananda Stealths and Sennheiser HD 6xx (which are 300ohms) with no problems and it's ESS DAC chipset is used in products costs thousands of dollars.

Although it is small, is solid built and improves upon the audio quality a lot. Glad that i bought the device

I enjoy the enhanced sounds from my Klipsch speakers. i haven't been able to discern any difference in sound quality from my Dragonfly

This product makes it possible to listen music with your favourite headphones and modern mobile phones. And you get all this without having to listen that awful background noise by low quality DAC. Outlook of the product is neat and descreet. Device is maybe a bit heavy but high quality USB-C cord can handle this heavyness. I haven't been able to get cord loose not once. The cord is exceptionally excellent! Heavyness comes with superb DAC and amp power.

The factors that attracted me to this product were the glowing audio reviews and then the price. I only use the 4.4. balanced output. I suggest getting a 4.4 converter for your 3.5 cable/wire connectors (inexpensive, effective). The sound is well balanced with good bass, treble. Soundstage is fine though not great. Details in the music are brought out very well. Not a perfect dac/amp, but very good. Build quality is great. I worry about the wire being a bit flimsy, although detachable and can be replaced easily. Gets pretty hot while operating, and I am concerned about longevity. This would adversely affect this review. So far, so good. The weight of the product is perfect for me- it indicates substance and quality. In fact, I use it for commuting and it is more effective, sounds better, compared to my bluetooth dac/amps. For commuting, the flexible wire is essential and I hope it does not break. For the low price, a five star product that enhanced my audio collection.
