How to: Choose the right banana plug?
- Closed Screw Type. All Fosi amplifiers use standard-sized speaker terminals (4mm pins).
- Easy to wire up and solidly connect to amplifier and passive speaker.
- If they do not fit, use a little force to tighten the plugs.

How to Diagnose Power Supply Failure?
- The following situations may cause this issue
- Case 1: The LED on the power supply does not light up; Case 2: Amp/Preamp does not turn on; Case 3: When plugged into the Amp, both light on the amp & power supply start blinking; Case 4: Amp/Preamp make noise; Case 5: Sound shuts off by itself
- Possible solution
- Check if the power supply is illuminated when plugged into AC by itself.
Plug power supply into a different socket.
Test the adapter with a meter.
Try a different power supply (within a range of DC input).
Test the included power supply on other electrical equipment.

What is a GaN?

I find the sound of the preamp through the phono input/output to be very neutral and clean. I really like the simplicity of the tone adjustments and being able to isolate them to each source, especially phono.
I didn't have a bluetooth option prior to integrating this component into my system, so the dual functionality of bluetooth/phono was very welcome. The bluetooth side of the box X3 has the same pleasant neautral sound profile. Functionality is rudimentary, and no frills. I prefer warmer sounds, and it's so easy to dial that in or out with the X3.
Since incorporating the Box X3, I have also picked up a wiim ultra. The wiim also has both phono and bluetooth functionality. Attempting to reproduce the clean and neutral sound of the Box X3 with the phono and bluetooth inputs of the wiim can be obtained by extensive EQ and settings adjustments. However, the effort required to get the wiim to do what the Box X3 does naturally are why the X3 stays part of my setup.
The Box X3 is another clean, simple, low cost solution in the FOSI lineup.

From day one, it has a cold solder on the LED under the lamp. I unfold and reassemble, the ice works for a couple of hours and turns off again. Contacted Fosi by email, they offered to send me a new diode and replace it myself....
Other than this, the X3 plays great.
I've owned the Box X3 for a few years. It has never disappointed me. I have rolled different paired tubes to fine-tune it to my liking. I like it more than more expensive fancy pre-amps.

As a pre-Amp, it works with my NAD 302 (as a power Amp) and my B&W DM 302 speakers very well. As of warmer sound, it is really helpful but not very much- just a little bit. Anyway, it is good enough for its price and I am satisfied with it.
