Clear sound, solid build

Works perfectly well paired with my fosi DAC. Might be a little more pricey compared to others but I love the theme I have going here.

Having already owned the Fosi Audio S3 streamer—whose qualities I greatly appreciated—I didn't hesitate to buy the "Lite" version for a second setup that already includes a DAC for the S3 Lite to pair with.
Setting up the Fosi Audio S3 Lite was incredibly easy, especially since I already had the dedicated app on my smartphone. It is worth noting that the app has improved since the S3 was first introduced; it is very user-friendly and offers numerous, effective features. I simply opened the app and selected the "Device" icon. Once that tab was open, I tapped the "+" sign to the right of "Device," which triggered a search for new hardware. The S3 Lite (switched to ON, with the white indicator light flashing) appeared quickly. From there, I just had to complete the setup process by following the on-screen instructions. After the app automatically checked for and installed the latest firmware, I was ready to enjoy the new setup.
The Fosi Audio S3 Lite is compact, well-built, and delivers a stable, high-quality audio stream to the Fosi Audio ZD3 DAC (equipped with Sparkos SS3602 OpAmps) with which it is paired. The result is thrilling. The value for money offered by this setup should easily win over most audiophiles, given the stunning quality, functionality, and sonic performance achieved by combining these Fosi products. The listening experience is truly moving—and ultimately, that is all one could ask for.
Finally—and this is very important—the customer service is attentive and impeccable. I was also pleased to see the brand's new European website, where the Euro has (finally!) replaced US Dollar billing (eu.fosiaudio.com).

I've been very impressed with the Fosi Audio S3 Lite. It is a simple but highly capable digital streamer, especially if you already own a quality external DAC. Streaming is stable, the digital output is clean, and having USB, optical and coaxial outputs makes it extremely versatile.

The compact design and wide streaming support are also big pluses. For the price, the S3 Lite is one of the easiest ways to add modern streaming capabilities to an existing Hi-Fi system without compromising the digital signal.

Seems to work fine, sound quality is good using Apple Music Lossless and connecting to Fosi DAC via optical fiber (TOSLINK).
I had some problems pairing the remote control, but it didn’t matter much since I can control the Streamer with the Fosi-app.

What I find most appealing about the S3 Lite is that it knows exactly what it is trying to be. Instead of attempting to replace every component in a system, it focuses on being a dedicated network transport for listeners who already have a DAC they prefer. That approach makes a lot of sense to me, and I appreciate the restraint. Its understated design, absence of a front display, and emphasis on digital connectivity give it a very purpose-driven feel that should work well in a variety of enthusiast setups. In everyday use, playback remained dependable through extended listening sessions, the various sample rates I tested were handled properly, and I had no major reliability concerns.

Of course, that focused approach also creates some limitations. Because there are no analog inputs, the Lite isn’t really positioned to act as the hub for other sources, such as a turntable or CD transport. I can understand leaving HDMI off a product aimed primarily at music playback, although I would have liked to see more flexibility when it comes to subwoofer integration and bass management. The companion app is another area where there is room for improvement. Navigation can feel slow, and some of the interface appears to include functions that aren’t particularly applicable to the Lite. I also encountered streaming interruptions somewhat more often than I did with the full-size S3. Gapless playback worked, but it wasn’t consistently as smooth as I would have hoped.
Overall, the S3 Lite makes the most sense for someone who already has a DAC they like and wants a straightforward network transport rather than another all-in-one component. Its focused design is one of its strengths, although buyers should be aware of the limitations that come with that specialization.

If you already have an Apple TV, Apple Music subscription, and a full AVR-based home theater setup, much of what the S3 Lite provides becomes redundant.Where this makes considerably more sense is on a desktop or in an office audio setup. Pair it with a DAC and a set of studio monitors or powered speakers and you can add convenient network streaming without replacing the rest of your equipment.It's also a good way to modernize an older HiFi system while continuing to use the DAC, amplifier, or speakers you already like. Just keep in mind that there's no built-in DAC, so this is specifically a digital streaming transport rather than an all-in-one streamer.Overall, it's a very capable little device for the right setup. I wouldn't add one to my AVR system, but as a way to piggyback high-quality streaming onto a dedicated office or desktop audio system, it makes a lot more sense.

In tanti impianti moderni esiste già una buona sezione di conversione: può trovarsi in un Denon, in un DAC dedicato, in un amplificatore integrato o in diffusori attivi ben progettati.Inserire un secondo DAC nello streamer rischierebbe soltanto di far pagare una funzione inutile o di creare dubbi su quale percorso usare. Fosi, con l’S3 Lite, ha scelto invece di concentrarsi sulla sorgente digitale. È un apparecchio dedicato a far arrivare la musica nel modo più ordinato possibile al componente che dovrà occuparsi del resto.Nel mio caso è collegato digitalmente al Denon, che mantiene il ruolo di convertitore e centro della catena. Personalmente preferisco partire sempre da un��impostazione neutra e lavorare prima sul posizionamento dei diffusori, per�� trovo positivo che Fosi lasci questa possibilit�� a disposizione senza obbligare l��utente a inserire un ulteriore componente nella catena.Anche il trigger da 12 Volt merita di essere citato. Non cambia il suono, ovviamente, ma pu�� cambiare la comodit�� di utilizzo. I have had a dedicated stereo setup in my living room for years, but getting clean streaming music to it without hooking up a laptop or running long cables was always a bit of a nuisance. I already had a sound converter and amplifier that I really liked, so I did not need an expensive, all-in-one box with parts I would never use. The S3 Lite caught my eye because it is built strictly as a digital transport��it handles the wireless streaming and feeds a direct digital signal straight into your existing equipment.Setting it up on my home network was very straightforward. The box itself is compact, lightweight, and finished in a solid matte-black metal casing that sits neatly on the shelf next to my other gear without taking up much room. The kit comes with everything you need to get going, including the power adapter, an optical cable, and a handy Bluetooth remote control that works from across the room without needing a direct line of sight.In daily use, the connection has been rock solid. I tested it extensively with Spotify and Tidal, streaming tracks directly from both my iPhone 17 Air and my Samsung Fold 8 Ultra. Switching between Apple AirPlay and Google Cast worked without any hiccups or annoying buffering delays.The back panel offers USB, optical, and coaxial digital outputs, giving you plenty of flexibility to hook it up to whatever converter or digital receiver you already own. It even has a 12-volt trigger jack, which is great for turning on connected equipment automatically when the streamer wakes up.The only real thing to keep in mind is that this unit has no standard red-and-white analog audio plugs or headphone jacks on the back, so you must connect it to an external digital-to-analog converter or an amp with digital inputs. i have tons of speakers, subs and amps ranging from sonos to kef to wiim. sonos is expensive. wiim is cool but they dont have airplay in everything. kef is great but the bluetooth lags and gives lip sync issues. i previously bought the fosi za3 as a headless amp to see how it would perform with some bookshelf speakers i had and i had never had fosi before. for the money, that amp was fantastic but it ended up being a little too bright for my taste.so this thing. i have a exercise bike that uses bluetooth and my sonos amp doesnt have that feature. to combat that, i put this streamer on top and had the bike connect to it via bluetooth, then used an optical to HDMI adapter to have it talk to the sonos amp. everything worked excellent.with that experience, here's what i'll say the good was:- easy setup with no user ID required- the interface of the app is very clean and intuitive to use- spotify connect and airplay worked with zero issuesthe not as good:- i hooked up bluetooth to my desktop and played a video through it. there was audio lag and also lots of popping in the transmission. the fosi was maybe 6 inches from my pc.- when i tried to play music from my phone via bluetooth to the fosi, it was connected to it via bluetooth but started playing from the phone speaker. not sure why it didnt just play directly to the fosi.- there is no input sensing. i had the device on USB output but had the fosi output via optical to my sonos. when trying to play a song when it was on USB, the device did not switch and i had to do it manuallyi think all in all for 1/3 price of the competition, this will totally do the job. i'll keep it for my application.

I purchased directly from Fosi and shipped from China, and delivered today at my home in USA. It took 8 days from the day I ordered to delivery. I downloaded the Fosi App on my Iphone 17, made the wifi connection from my phone to the S3 Lite, connected the S3 Lite to my Fosi ZD 3 DAC using the USB connections on both, and then output to my Sony Receiver. I listened to Tidal Connect and sound was fantastic. No issues with the Fosi App or the install process, including the connection to my local wifi network. Highly recommend!

The Fosi S3 Lite is a digital streaming source. It is essentially the digital streaming section of the Fosi S3 non-Lite, without the analog section nor the input connections - this Fosi S3 Lite is digital output only. As such, the use case for this is someone who already has an audio system with a DAC (digital to analog converter), or an older digital receiver that is lacking streaming capabilities.If that is what you need, this is a clean way of adding such capabilities and is unique at this price point. The digital processing uses current state of the art chipsets (Amlogic A113x) and includes every major type of digital output connection: optical, coaxial, or USB (for USB DACs, not PCs). It can drive optical and coaxial at the same time which might make for some interesting flexibility with the ability to drive two DACs. However, USB output works only by itself.The list of capabilities will accommodate the majority of sources, some more natively than others, but every major service is represented or compatible in some way. The usual connection protocols are present such as Chromecast, Airplay 2 (a leg up on competitors still stuck on Airplay 1), and UPnP/DLNA. Users of Amazon Music, YouTube music, and Apple Music will have to use Chromecast or Airplay from within their respective apps. It appears that Fosi is slowly adding native support for more services, and currently includes Roon Ready, Tidal, Spotify, and Qobuz, all indicative of Fosi's intent to demonstrate their commitment to hi-fi enthusiasts. If that weren't enough, the S3 Lite also plays DSD files (and converts them to 192kHz PCM signals) which is a format that only die-hard audiophiles remember and care about - this capability is not advertised, but I can confirm that I was able to play several DSD/DSF files, further testament to Fosi's intent to appeal to audio geeks. PCM sources up to 192kHz sampling rate and 24 bit resolution also played fine.I tested using the coaxial and also the optical output to a receiver. I tried several methods to play music on the Fosi S3 Lite: the native Fosi app, BubbleUPnP app from a local DLNA server, and casting music from inside the Amazon Music app and YouTube music app using Chromecast. Everything worked as expected and was stable while streaming over a wired ethernet connection. It should be noted that everything is controlled by an app in some way as there is no display on the device and the few buttons on the front panel are confusing enough with their multiple functions (press, hold, double tap) that I never used them.Bluetooth from a phone works. Any audiophile will want to use an ethernet connection for best audio quality, but Bluetooth works for cases such as a guest wanting to share music.The unit includes some capabilities that are unnecessary in a digital source device and I would have preferred these to be deleted or at least defaulted to a neutral state. The first is a 10 band graphic EQ in the Fosi app which works well enough, although the boost/cut range is rather low (I estimate 3-5dB). The second is volume control which is equally pointless in a device like this since users of such a digital source are likely to prefer downstream components for EQ and volume control. More egregious is that the EQ is defaulted to a curve (consisting of boosted bass and treble) and the volume control is defaulted to 60%. It's a problem easily corrected in the Fosi app, but imagine if a Blu-ray player were delivered with an EQ active and attenuated volume! As a matter of principle, enthusiasts seek to preserve resolution and accuracy with source devices and the S3 Lite compromises both out of the box since the output is purely digital (attenuating volume digitally necessarily means reducing bits of total resolution). In any case, this is easily rectified by using the app to set the startup volume to "fixed" and "100%" (to make sure you are getting all of the resolution from your source), and turn off the EQ.Finally, the value here is a bit of a question mark. If you need a pure digital streaming source, this does the job and is one of the few options on the market at this price point. However, for just a tiny bit more, you can upgrade to the S3 non-Lite and have more flexibility for future needs but with fewer digital output options. Know your system and your needs and choose accordingly.Overall, this is a niche product, but it does what it advertises. But definitely fix the default volume and EQ settings.

I also tested the Fosi S3 in the Spring, so was keen to try it's "Lite" counterpart. The Lite version makes perfect sense to me, as I run all my digital sources through a FiiO R2R DAC, and it seems redundant to have multiple other components with DAC's built-in that I just bypass.The Lite shares the same handsome case and Bluetooth remote control as the S3. It also shares the same smartphone app that allows you to access the more complex functions, like EQ settings.Inevitably any streamer that costs under $500 will be compared to the WiiM line-up, and WiiM still has a number of advantages, like a touch screen display, access to more subscriber services (including Amazon Music), rechargeable metal remotes, etc.But Fosi does have great hardware here and is steadily issuing software updates that improve the feature set. The S3 Lite is an excellent value at the listed price and will be the right choice for many. Recommended!

Auch die Unterst��tzung verschiedener Streaming-Dienste ist ein gro?er Vorteil. AirPlay 2, Google Cast und Spotify beziehungsweise Tidal Connect decken bereits viele typische Nutzungsszenarien ab. Der 10-Band-EQ ist au?erdem interessant, wenn man den Klang etwas an die eigenen Vorlieben anpassen m?chte.
